A Fan at Heart

Tuesday, May 12, 2015

Ed Albert ’11 was one of many Robert Morris fans overcome with excitement as the Colonials returned to the NCAA Tournament this March, triumphing over Northern Florida before falling to the Duke Blue Devils.

But Albert also had the opportunity to cover the college team he supported for so many years, now that he is a producer at KDKA’s weekend 10 p.m. news broadcast.

“My job was to help decide what was going to be put in words during the tournament from articles and interviews,” Albert says.

As a media arts major, he was both a loyal supporter of the Colonials and an anchor and a reporter for the Colonial Sports Center, including a play-by-play and color commentator for multiple sports throughout his years on campus. Albert further spent his college years interning with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Rubino Productions, and continues to be a fan of the Colonials and several other Pittsburgh sports teams.

Albert continues to show his support for Robert Morris, returning in March shortly after the NCAA tournament for a special program at the School of Communications and Information Systems, “Creativity at Work,” where he provided students with insights about his career in media arts and the steps he took to finally land his position at KDKA.

“Coming from RMU, I had so much pride to be a part of something so amazing," says Albert.
