Monda was named a Greater Pittsburgh Dignity & Respect Champion in October in recognition of her active volunteer work and her passion for positive, creative change in her community. She was nominated by Bracken Burns, chairman of the campaign and a former Washington County commissioner.


Since returning to Washington County in 2006, Monda has coordinated events, facilitated classes, and volunteered for numerous community organizations in and around Washington County, including the Civic Leadership Institute of Greater Washington, Highland Ridge Community Development Corporation and Community Garden, Community Action Southwest, N.A.A.C.P, Community Voices Against Violence, Adult Literacy Council, Washington Literacy Council, Washington County Housing Authority, and the neighborhood Drug Awareness Corporation.
